Hello Tom,

it is absolutely forbidden to remove these screws : they keep aligned lenses and vertical slider of the optical zoom.
It would be a nightmare to adjust the whole zoom system !

I don't think that the screws that held your system are inside microscope housing :
because the two parts of the microscope housing (top and bottom) are kept together with 3 long screws that you access at the bottom side.

But this is not what you need to do :
I think (in fact, I am pretty sure) that the black plate that hold the motor is screwed with the same 2 screws that hold the microscope housing to the microscope holder.
These 2 screws are circled in blue on the photo.

You have to remove the black rectangular part to see these 2 screws...

Thank you for your reply!
I've tried before to remove the black rectangular part without success. I'll try again to find any screw behind.
I think the big white gear-wheel is bolted to the black triangular plate, but then sealed by grey epoxy.
I've not tried to remove the epoxy, not to damage anything...

I've marked the epoxied areas in red.
I've also marked the areas I suggest the long screws you mentioned, in blue.

I'm not quite clear how to remove the epoxy.
Maybe I use a hot soldering iron...

PS: The reason, why I want to remove the unused parts:
I want to have access to the objective to change it or use an additional clamp-on-type 1.6x converter lens

It will be hard to remove this black part : good luck !
You are right about the "blue" screws placement

I've removed one of the grey epoxy seals by the soldering iron method. But there is no screw, my assumption was wrong.
I see no accessible screw nor possibly hidden screws I could accesss from the outside of the microscope...

This morning I found 3 small holes at the white gear wheel.

(1 of 3 holes)

When I slided in a thin 1,5mm drill and turned the gear wheel, I found 3 positions (each 120°) the drill could be slided in a few extra millimeters - and the gear wheel was some kind of "locked".
So, I thought, there's a sort of threaded ring (with 3 holes) inside that holds the gear wheel to the black plate, that could be unscrewed by the locked gear wheel . :D

I slided 3 drills into the holes, found the locking position, slided them in to the stop, locked internal ring and turned the gear wheel counter clockwise.

There was a slight friction that decreased a bit while turning.
I turned about 10 turns counter clockwise, but friction didn't decrease more than it decreased after the first 1/4 turn.
The axial play of the gear wheel didn't increase (as it should, if there was a loose thread).
So something inside holds the ring from inside the microscope housing.

There must be a way to open the microscope housing... :(
