Bonjour.
Bernard.
Hello.
The white corollas of the bindweed (Convolvulus sepium, Convolvulaceae) brighten up the low flowering hedges. It is a climbing plant.
The section of the stem (Fig. 1) is H-shaped, this shape provides the rigidity of this creeper plant which must still pass from one support to another. This rigidity is complemented by a continuous ring of xylem. There is also a discontinuous cycle of pericyclic fibers (Fig. 2).
Under the epidermis there is a loose tissue allowing air circulation and a discrete collenchyma then the cortical parenchyma. Many resin ducts occupy the cortical part of the section. Finally, and this is a characteristic of the family Convolvulaceae, an internal phloem occupies the space between pit and protoxyleme.
In Figure 3, is presented a stoma. The cuticle on the epidermis is thin and wawy.
Thank you for your attention and your corrections.
Best regards. Bernard.
