Bonjour.
Bernard.
Hello.
The stem of the common vetch (Vicia sativa, Fabaceae) has two small wings, each containing a vascular bundle and two principal ribs (picture 1).
In the vascular bundles (picture 2) the cambium was already activated. Every bundle has a cap of fibers.
Under the epidermis of the ribs and wings stays a collenchyma of the lamellar type (picture 2).
The staining of a fresh cross section with the lugol brings to light the presence of a photosynthetic tissue with chloroplasts containing black stained starch granules (pictures 3 and 4).
Some cells of the cortical parenchyma surronding the vascular bundle contain bigger starch granules (pictures 3 and 4).
Thank you for reading and correcting.
Best regards. Bernard.
