Albizia jubrissin "summer chocolate" est un bel arbuste de jardin qui comme son nom l'indique arbore une belle livrée chocolat.
C'est une Fabaceae de la sous-famille des Mimosoideae.
La coupe du pétiole (Fig. 1 et Fig. 2) est étonnante par sa ressemblance avec une tête de grenouille, bouche grande ouverte. Les deux "yeux" sont les nervures alimentant les folioles de cette feuille composée.
Le cylindre central est enserré dans un bel anneau de fibres.
Seule la partie abaxiale du pétiole a développé un périderme (Fig. 3).
A la limite entre l'anneau de fibres péricycliques et le parenchyme on trouve régulièrement des cellules contenant un prisme d'oxalate de calcium (Fig. 4).

This is one of the family Fabaceae (subfamily Mimosoideae.
The cross section section of the petiole (Fig. 1, Fig. 2) is amazing for its resemblance to a frog's head with wide open mouth. Both "eyes" are the veins supplying the leaflets of the compound leaf.
The central cylinder is contained in a beautiful pericyclic fibers ring.
Only the abaxial part of the petiole has developed a periderm (Fig. 3).
At the boundary between the ring of pericyclic fibers and the cortical parenchyma, cells are regularly found containing a prism of calcium oxalate (Fig. 4)
